BAD BREATH TREATMENT

Why Bad Breath Happens

Bad breath, or halitosis, is common and can affect your confidence in everyday life. It is usually caused by bacteria in the mouth, but it can also be a sign of other problems.

If brushing, flossing and drinking water have not helped, it may be time for a professional check to find the cause.

Identifying the Underlying Cause

The most common causes include plaque build-up, gum disease, dry mouth, strong-smelling foods, smoking and bacteria on the tongue. Less often, sinus or stomach problems can play a part.

Because bad breath can have several sources, a dental exam is the best way to get an accurate answer and the right treatment.

How to Treat and Prevent Bad Breath

Fresh breath starts with good daily care: brush twice a day, clean your tongue, floss and stay hydrated. Regular cleanings remove the build-up that causes odour, and we will treat any gum disease or other issues we find.
